European Parliament Hosts Open Russia Founder Khodorkovsky

The European Parliament will be hosting a session with the founder of the Open Russia movement Mikhail Khodorkovsky to discuss and debate issues of human rights, civil society, and democracy in Russia.

The event, which is convened in association with the Subcommittee on Human Rights and with the the Delegation to the EU-Russia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, will take place on 2 December 2014, at 15.00.

Khodorkovsky last visited the European Parliament in April 2014, where he met with President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz MEP, as well as with Anne Brasseur, president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to thank them for their strong stance on human rights issues in Russia.

Mikhail Khodorkovsky has visited the European institutions in Strasbourg to thank supporters who campaigned over many years for his release from prison, and to pledge his commitment to promoting dialogue on the crisis in Ukraine.
