Germany Celebrates Khodorkovsky’s Birthday

To commemorate his 50th birthday yesterday, supporters around Germany came together to send their best wishes to Mikhail Khodorkovsky in a variety of ways:

  • The Berlin Wall Museum updated their existing exhibition on Khodorkovsky’s case highlighting the 10 years Khodorkovsky has spent in prison and promoted the birthday card campaign to the museum’s visitors

  • The German Khodorkovsky Facebook page published a special birthday wish
  • Memorial Germany issued a special birthday greeting to Khodorkovsky on their website
  • Green Party politician Marieluise Beck sent her birthday wishes via her Facebook page
  • The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom published a video statement by Dr. Wolfgang Gerhardt, a member of the German Parliament and the Foundation’s Executive Chairman
  • Jens Siegert from the Moscow Office of the Boell Foundation translated Khodorkovsky’s greeting to the 9th Khodorkovsky Readings and published it on his Russia blog
  • Ralf Fuecks, Head of the Boell Foundation, published a video of support on his website, which can be viewed HERE
  • Social Democrat Member of Parliament Gernot Erler also published his video of support online, which can be viewed HERE
