Participants at a European Parliament hearing on political prisoners in Russia expressed their solidarity with Mikhail Khodorkovsky by adding their names to the hundreds of people who have sent him a digital birthday card ahead of his 50th birthday on 26 June.

At the end of the hearing, guests gathered by a photo montage of last year’s Bolotnaya Square protests to choose one of three selected designs and add a short personal message to Khodorkovsky, who also marks the tenth anniversary of his politically-motivated detention in October this year.
